The concept of Pool is simple yet genius: a luxury garment rental service that gives you access to a huge collection of high-end fashion. Launched in September 2021, the Kreuzberg-based fashion concept offers a monthly subscription which lets you can pick from a selection of thousands of garments that you can keep for as long as you want, no strings attached. The cost is based on the value bracket of a garment, and you can swap your items for other ones as often as you like (cleaning is included in the service). Pool is the brainchild of Danish expats Rune Orloff and Kristian Rix, who founded the service on circular economy principles. This means that all the clothes are responsibly sourced – such as from cancelled orders or overproduction – helping reduce demand for new product. Curated by a small and experienced team, the brands in the “pool” include Nanushka, Comme des Garcons, Rhude, Nudie Jeans as well as neighboring Kreuzberg designer Hien Le. You can come to the store and browse and select items just like at a regular shop, only instead of buying, you are just giving the garments a temporary home – saving you the upfront costs and potentially lots of fashion waste.
