Like most Berliners, we’re always on the lookout for an easy weekend trip away from the city, and now we’ve found a place that’s a perfect fit. Camping- und Ferienpark am Plauer See sits just south west of Potsdam, right between a lake and fields of wheat, and is perfect for a quiet stay in the countryside. The holiday park has 1000 square meters of camping grounds plus spaces to park a campervan, though if you lack your own gear there’s a solution for you too: there are seven bungalows to rent, and also “tent hotels” where a tent sits built and ready on a small platform. All you need to bring is your sleeping bag, and with no need to pack a tent you can make a stress-free getaway when it’s time to go home. The park includes amenities, a playground, a table tennis table, wifi to rent, and of course, Plauer See. A small jetty leads you to this serene lake for an easy swim, with small pedal boats docked that are available to hire. If you are in a slightly bigger group, you can even rent a house raft to float around the lake. The journey to this rural escape takes two hours from Berlin by regional train and bus, though we recommend combining rail with a short bike ride so you can treat yourself to some much-needed fresh country air…
