ESTELLE DINING: MEDITERRANEAN SMALL PLATES AND PIZZA FOR MIX-AND-MATCH DINNERS

Named after co-founder Jared Bassoff’s grandma, restaurant Estelle Dining opened in early 2020 with the former The Store chef teaming up with his wife Rebecca. Walk in and you are greeted by ceiling-high shelves holding an interesting selection of biodynamic wines, below which stand terrazzo tables and peach-colored cushions which complement the wood, concrete and brass of the interior design. The menu is as well thought out as the surroundings, with dishes like the whipped ricotta served with focaccia, prawns, anchovies and Caesar salad with raw vegetables served in white bean purée. The plates tend to be smaller, making them perfect for group sharing sessions, though if you want a dish for yourself, the pizzas – authentically baked in the 450 degree oven – are a solid choice, creatively topped with the likes of charred onions and roasted garlic cream with lovage. The desserts don’t disappoint either, with a milk ice cream with Dulce de Leche, pretzel and peanut as well as the Bounty-like coconut sorbet. Jared, your grandma would be proud!
