Missed out on tickets at this year’s Berlinale? Here’s another chance to catch some of 2024’s hottest films: Freiluftkino Friedrichshain is hosting open-air screenings of four award-winning festival flicks throughout next week. Kicking off the program on Monday (10.06.2024) is Love Lies Bleeding, a wild, dark romance by British director Rose Glass starring Kristen Stewart. On Tuesday (11.06.2024) is the Golden Bear Award-winning Dahomey, a documentary by actor and director Mati Diop about the return of looted treasures from France to the West African state of Benin. The program that evening will open with the Argentinian short film An Odd Turn (Un movimiento extraño). Another prizewinner on Wednesday (12.06): All Shall Be Well, a touching drama about Hong Kong’s lesbian community that ran in the Panorama category and won the Teddy Award for Best Feature. Finishing up the screenings is My Favorite Cake. This heartwarming Farsi film, about a 70-year-old woman who has a chance romantic encounter, was recognized by the FIPRESCI jury (showing Thursday 13.06). The sunset screenings are all held at 21h30 and introduced by Berlinale curators. Advance booking is recommended – get your tickets here (oh, and pack a blanket – Berlin loves surprising us with a chilly summer night…)
