GRACE EVANGELINE HOLME RECOMMENDS: HASE

GRACE EVANGELINE HOLME RECOMMENDS: HASE

Just around the corner from Tempelhof, Berlin’s favorite airport-turned-playground, is Hase: a small store that promises to lend you #allesfürsfeld (#everythingforthefield) – and delivers. You can rent over 20 skate and longboards, as well as everything you need for the perfect day in the park – from oil pastels to analogue cameras, guitars to slack lines. Plus, the prices are incredibly affordable, and the longer you borrow, the cheaper it gets. Boards start at 4 euros per hour and at max stretch to 18 euros for a week. Hase’s affordability ties into the awesome ethos behind the space. As founder Jascha Müller-Guthof explained to me, he was inspired by the concept of a Sharing Economy – see economist Jeremy Rifkin. Craving to put theory into practice, he brought it out of the textbook and onto the street: Hase opened in mid April 2016. This place is cool, clever and it has heart. The walls are used as exhibition space – currently displaying some beautiful analogue photography – and there’s always time to chill on the sofa and have a chat. Hase is catching the attention of many, from school groups to travelling boarders to art and design enthusiasts. It’s time you check it out as well.
