The gardening season has officially begun, meaning it’s the perfect time to create your own natural oasis – even if you don’t have your own garden. Help is at hand from Grigioverde, the Charlottenburg shop for gardeners that sells handmade pots and clever planting setups. The store’s owner is (fittingly) named Ulrike Pott, and she has created a range of frost-resistant mini planters and pots that she developed while experimenting in her own urban garden. Her designs are timeless, with classic shapes in earthy tones and mineral colors. Pott’s simple raised beds and concrete containers are manufactured in Brandenburg and Gdansk in small workshops, while the ceramics come from Vietnam. But it’s not just the pots that are innovative: every Grigioverde product comes with a free planting plan with selected perennials and annual flowers that are adapted to the conditions in your garden or balcony.
Pott’s gardening philosophy is a sustainable one, so it’s goodbye to one-season plants and unsightly plastic pots and hello to hardy native perennials and low-maintenance grasses. Pott will gladly give you top tips for a successful garden whatever your setup: if you have little space and time, for example, you should opt for a small number of bigger planters, which require less watering and are hardier in winter. Armed with a classy container and some jargon-free advice, you’ll be ready to don your gloves and create the plant paradise you’ve always dreamed of.
