The best thing about Hartweizen is that they’re clean; the minimalist atmosphere with long wooden tables and the simple menu. Their offer is small enough so you won’t drown in it, yet satisfies every “gusto”. Last time I was there I tried the Italian classic spaghetti with mussels, which was excellent! In terms of ingredients, you’ll find everything the Italian kitchen has to offer – from goat cheese to herbs and veggies to pasta (of course), fish and meat dishes. Here and there you’ll find some oriental touches such as taboulé. Altogether you’ll experience fine Italian dishes that are slightly different from what most typical Italian restaurants might serve: sword fish with purple potatoes, Orichiette with carrot sprouts and Salsicca or Pancetta with scallops. The only shortcoming there is the lighting; to me a warmer light concept would still work with the minimalist look. I recommend this place for a business dinner or a feast with friends rather than a romantic tête-à-tête.
