“Transhemispheric Resonances” or “An ITCZ of Many Tongues” — if these wonderfully cryptic titles sound like music to your ears, you’re ready for Transmediale 2026, which takes place from Thursday to Sunday (29.01.–01.02.) at Silent Green and other locations across the city. Under the title By the Mango Belt & Tamarind Road – Compassing, Protocoling, Metaphoring, the festival approaches technology not as a tool, but as a network of relationships. Between installations, sound experiments, and temporary architectures, spaces for collective reflection emerge, including Afro hip-hop at Berghain and forest echoes in the concrete hall of Silent Green. If you’d rather wear mango and tamarind on your skin, a small cosmetics heaven awaits in Mitte. Kore’s pop-up brings Korean skincare to Galerie Wasser for a few days (29.01.–01.02.). Beauty meets other art forms with jewelry by Maison Le Super, hats by Fiona Bennett, and collages by Justine Laeufer.
Saturday (31.01.) belongs to the Sonntags-Club (and to the printed word). The mobile Queer Zine Library Berlin invites you to activate its archive in Prenzlauer Berg — meaning playful quests and collective explorations of the collection. These excursions last at least two hours. Anyone who prefers to browse freely can simply stop by in the afternoon — admission is free. Colorful collections can also be found at the Clothing Swap (31.01.) by Supersoft and Ouch. They invite you to Kreuzberg to send once-beloved items into new orbits. Clothing, accessories, books, or small home objects — you can bring up to 20 items. Anything left over will be donated to Aktion Hoffnung. Sunday (01.02.) begins in delicate green. The Ikigai Tea Bar, known, among other things, for its matcha crêpe cake, invites visitors to its matcha flea market. Second-hand treasures from the community await discovery. The first fifteen buyers receive a matcha on the house; everyone else can spin the wheel of fortune. Berlin remains a network, and we’re happy to get caught up in it.
