Is the August page of your calendar still looking a bit empty? Allow us to fill it up with our pick of the best – and most creative – events in the coming weeks. First up: Berlin interview magazine Mono.kultur, which is marking the release of its latest issue with an open-air screening of director Mike Mills’ 2024 film Come on, Come on this Friday (09.08.2024) at Freiluftkino Kreuzberg. The magazine is dedicating a whole edition to Mills, who will attend the screening to talk about the film, which stars the always-intense Joaquin Phoenix. Meanwhile, the art is on the page over at EinBuch.Haus, the Pankow project gallery which takes a single beautifully-designed book and turns it into an exhibition. Up and Coming, the current show running until 17.08., centers on not one but three books, whose creators – Anja Dietmann/Jonas Beuchert, Elfi Handina Murandu and Johanna Behrens – were awarded the Stiftung Buchkunst Sponsorship Prize for Young Book Design. Besides the prize-winning books (which are available to buy), the exhibition features installations and prints all showcasing impeccable print design. Finally: after all that cultural excitement, some sustenance. Keit, the aesthetically pleasing pair of bakeries in Friedrichshain and Schöneberg, is opening a third shop in Kreuzberg’s Graefestraße with a launch event this Saturday (10.08.). The new “micro store” is open from 13h, serving sourdough, coffee and – appropriately for the weather – scoops of vanilla and caramel ice cream featuring Keit’s own bread chips. Come for the bread, stay for the sweet treats…
