PAMPERED POOCHES — THREE WAYS TO TREAT YOUR HOUND AND HELP DOGS IN NEED

PAMPERED POOCHES — THREE WAYS TO TREAT YOUR HOUND AND HELP DOGS IN NEED

A pre-Christmas haircut is at the top of many of our to-do lists. But what about our four-legged friends? They shouldn’t miss out over the holidays either, which is why Groomroom Berlin is the perfect place if you want to get your dog’s coat in fine fettle. This pet grooming salon in Neukölln was founded by Ukrainian dog-lover Darya who, having unsuccessfully searched for a salon for her own pooch, decided to open a shop herself. The salon employs women who have fled the war in Ukraine, including Svetlana and Tina, who both have years of grooming experience. The salon specializes in poodles and Pomeranians, whose coats require extra attention (though all breeds are welcome). Unlike many dog groomers, you don’t have to leave the salon during your appointment: you can make yourself comfortable or join your dog while they’re being pampered at the back.

Of course, being able to give your dog such treatments is a privilege: there are animals who know neither professional grooming nor a permanent home. That’s where Doggo Donate and Strayz come in. These brands support street animals by selling canine supplies and dog-themed design goods. Run by a group of friends under the motto “Never for money, always for dogs”, Doggo Donate raises money for animal welfare organizations with their two annual collections. The latest products are a collaboration with four designers in Berlin, Hamburg and Porto and include trendy jumpers, cushion covers and socks. For a festive gift, you can send your loved ones a ”Jingle Gebells” card. Posted to the recipient for you, the cards’ proceeds are donated to Stray Aid Montenegro. Finally: if you are looking for gourmet meals for your pet while supporting less-fortunate animals, we can highly recommend Strayz. By buying food for your dog (or cat) you can help provide strays with meals and medical treatment (the website shows you exactly how and where the money is used). We recommend starting with the taster pack so your pet can pick their favorite flavor. You’ll be helping a good cause and making your hound (or feline) very happy indeed…
