“Is this art or can it be thrown away?” — a world-famous question intended to cast doubt on the recognition of certain works of contemporary art. From the perspective of arts and crafts, this humorous question is an existential one. In its first exhibition “but is it art?“, Kleistone Studio questions itself and its visitors. At the opening on Friday (22.11.2014), the ceramics and pottery art studio invites visitors to explore the fine line between craft and art, and the overlap between function and aesthetics. The artists and authors of Frohes Festival at Silent Green will also tackle big questions. On Friday and Saturday (22. & 23.11.), the literary line-up with Natasha A. Kelly and Hengameh Yaghoobifarah, among others, will be starting a dialogue. Now is the time to get involved and discuss socio-political issues, and you’re cordially invited to take part. If you’re still wondering what art is, visit the newly opened exhibition Half-Light. On the first and second floors of the KW Institute of Contemporary Art, find the multi-perspective exhibition, which deals with ambiguities, ambivalence and changeable worlds. The ten artistic positions encounter and negotiate power structures, historical events and social systems in an interdisciplinary way. The cooperative with the Berlin Program for Artists can be viewed until the beginning of January 2025.
Kroque will provide the food this weekend. The young tattoo artist recently made his debut in the world of street food and wants to share his passion and homemade ingredients in collaboration with friends, local communities and other creatives. His grilled cheese sandwiches await on Sunday (24.11.) at the No Input Release Party at Giri Berlin. “Croque Monsieur” will be available in a classic ham version or vegetarian. Whether art or cheese, this weekend will delight your soul.
