GFMF SALON NO.6: A DOUBLE-TAKE ON KARL-MARX-ALLEE

GFMF SALON NO.6: A DOUBLE-TAKE ON KARL-MARX-ALLEE

Stalinallee was once its name – this was then, but the street we now know as Karl-Marx-Allee is still as impressive today. And, incidentally, it’s wider than the Champs-Elysées. Tomorrow (16.10.2015) a photography show of images of this street will be opening right here, at Central Berlin on Karl-Marx-Allee. The show is part of Galerie für Moderne Fotografie’s Salon program, and will be held at the gallery’s new second venue. Entitled “Die Allee” (The Alley), the exhibition will showcase photos of the 1960s by Ludwig Schirmer as well as by his daughter Ute Mahler, who captured the parade on May 1st, 1980 in striking black-and-white images. Mahler will be attending the opening. This is a great opportunity to walk this boulevard and realize once again how ever-changing this city is, and just how much it has been through.
