CROCODILE MEETS COUTURE: JULIAN ZIGERLI X ANDI FISCHER BREAK BOUNDARIES WITH HUMOR

CROCODILE MEETS COUTURE: JULIAN ZIGERLI X ANDI FISCHER BREAK BOUNDARIES WITH HUMOR

A twisted crocodile, a friendly tiger, a silly raven, and a spotted goat quickly win everyone’s hearts. It’s not just Berliners who have long been captivated by Andi Fischer‘s scribbled paintings (which you can now wear). This spring, Swiss label Julian Zigerli collaborated with the artist to release a new collection. Designer Julian Zigerli often works in collaboration; it’s part of his creative process and the label’s DNA. “It’s just more fun that way,” he says, and fun is very important to him. As is irony, love, and humor. The collection certainly has all that in spades. In addition to the already charming motifs, which are embroidered, knitted, or printed, there’s wit in every detail. There are reversible motifs that, entire suits with childlike embroidery patterns, a knitted star hat, and funny underwear.

And, refreshingly, there aren’t separate collections for women and men. Julian and Andi developed the motifs and their design together, starting with the tiger. The pieces were then photographed in Andi’s studio, and the entire creative process was a close collaboration, right down to the Santa Claus-like stage design and styling of the models on the catwalk. “The Limit Does Not Exist” is the title of the collection, a nod to Mean Girls and a tribute to breaking down boundaries. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it addresses exactly the right topics. And we can all learn a thing or two from that, or simply wear it in the future.
