If during your teenage years you wore your flip phone attached to a lanyard around your neck, I’m sure you’re happy to see that this trend is making a comeback, but with a stylish makeover thanks to Berlin-based brand XouXou. The project started in 2015 when founder Yara Jentzsch Dib used her passion for macramé to create a practical and innovative means of keeping a crucial tool – her smartphone – in close reach, even with her hands full with a newborn baby. The prototype of the smartphone necklace she handcrafted became a hit amongst friends and family, so Yara started the Xou Xou website to bring her creations to the world. The brand has since developed a range of designs, from sleek all-black rope and matte cases to colorful mix & match options with thicker straps and chunky clasps that you can shop online and in select retailers. Gone are the days of frantic rummaging through your purse or patting down your pockets to locate your phone – now it’s always right where you left it.
