The area around Heinrich-Heine-Straße is not exactly known for being gourmet, although there are a couple of spots that are worth making the trip. One of them opened just a few weeks ago, Schmidt’s Deli Deluxe. Here you can get typical American diner dishes that are quite rare in Berlin: Reuben sandwich, tuna melt, BLT, patty melt, and the like. I highly recommend each and one of them! If you fancy beer for lunch, as far as I know they are the only spot that serves Brooklyn Lager in this town. Now that’s what I call authentic.
