BEAUTIFUL PICTURES, WORDS, PEOPLE, DRINKS — OUR TIPS FOR THE UPCOMING DAYS

BEAUTIFUL PICTURES, WORDS, PEOPLE, DRINKS — OUR TIPS FOR THE UPCOMING DAYS

To start the weekend with the good feeling of being “on top of our social game”, we are starting our tips in reverse order today. Next Thursday (27.03.2025): Spyros Rennt is a great photographer, so great his emotional images of people and objects that have somehow become human can also exist in catalog form. How convenient that he is launching his new book Intertwined and that you can take it home with you from 6pm to 9pm in Reichenberger Straße. Of course, a few works will be hanging on the walls as well. Tuesday (25.03.) is marked in gold in my calendar: the extremely clever Rabea Weihser, former head of the culture department at Zeit Online, also has a new book, but hers, How we became so beautiful, is about the cultural history of the face, make-up and selfies, injections and surgeries — and reads with the same light enjoyment as a well-researched magazine article. So see you at Publix. For all those who not only like to look at beauty and pictures, but take pictures themselves or want to understand the process better, the EMOP offers a nice event the whole weekend (22.-23.03.): various photo labs open their doors all over the city and explain how it works. Greetings at this point to Jochen Rohner, all other participants can be found here.

As we all know, Friday evening starts in the afternoon and nice and early, from 6 pm tomorrow (21.03.) it’s best to hang out at Laundromat. The Einhundert collective will be throwing a few drinks in Prenzlberg, accompanied by smooth sounds and if you can’t make it, listen to them later on Refuge Radio’s online program. Later on, the party continues at Paloma Bar in Kreuzberg with Into Orbit, the first evening of DJ jiyun kim‘s new event series, which facilitates encounters and connections between cultures and people with its parties and music. Let’s get started with the South Korean diaspora. Getting all fidgety from all the planning? Best to shake it off right away. Tonight (20.03.), photographer Kathrin Linkersdorff is opening her supernaturally beautiful photographs from the microcosm of nature at Haus am Kleistpark. The introduction will be given by art historian Horst Bredekamp. And afterwards? A drink at Bar Nonno around the corner and then off to Studio 1111 on the Potse. After all, Thursdays there are almost legendary, even after just one year of the club’s existence. Aura is the name of the program tonight (20.03.), it’s a so-called Creators Night with VJ and DJ and performance and all sorts of other things, but I’m sure there will be dancing too.
