SPREEPARK – A SHORT AWAKENING FROM A DEEP SLEEP

SPREEPARK – A SHORT AWAKENING FROM A DEEP SLEEP

Ever since Spreepark on the Spree riverside in Treptow closed down due to insolvency in 2001, the fairground rides have been slowly decaying. Trying to enter this enchanted space is impossible – the security service will get you in no time. But from today until Sunday you can visit the space legally: Invisible Playground and Matthaei & Konsorten in cooperation with Hebbel am Ufer are pursuing the question, “What if parks and cities, leisure and work, exoticism and home can no longer be distinguished from one another?” and offering a dense program of guided tours, concerts (e.g.: Kapaikos) and hands-on experience like putting all your fears and wishes into the construction of a monstrous figure called “Burn Out Man” which in the end is sacrificed after an excessive ritual. Well, doesn’t that sound like a true one-of-a-kind experience?

Opening hours: 27th-29th of May; Thu 18-22h, Fri 18-24h, Sat 14-1h, Sun 12-22h; park admission:5€/children under 14 free, Spreezone and Tours 3€ each; Lunapark, Spreepark im Plänterwald, main entrance: Wasserweg, 12435 Berlin-Treptow; map
