SUMMER FUN, SUNBATHING AND SWIMMING — TIME OUT AT THE GROSSER WUKENSEE LAKE

SUMMER FUN, SUNBATHING AND SWIMMING — TIME OUT AT THE GROSSER WUKENSEE LAKE

When it’s one of those hot summer days when you long for a fresh breeze and cool water, allow us to point you in the direction of Großer Wukensee, located not far from Berlin by the village Biesenthal. The bus goes directly to the beach and once you’re there, you feel like you’ve been transported to Italy: the sand is particularly fine and the water is so clear that you can see fish swimming by. The lake offers refreshment for non-swimmers and swimmers alike with its U-shaped jetty. The areas are clearly demarcated for non-swimmers, youngsters and children and there’s a water slide, too. In the outdoor area, you can choose between four starting blocks and lanes, while those who dare can jump into the five-meter-deep water. Adjacent to the beach, there are facilities to change into your swimwear and a kiosk to grab a snack. No wonder the Großer Wukensee is so popular in high summer. It’s best to get to the lake early to secure a prime spot on the beach.
