For all the sun-chasers in Berlin, Strandbad Plötzensee is a classic summer go-to for relaxation and entertainment. From rolling green meadows to land and water activities, music and beach lounges, there’s something for everyone. With a variety of food and drink spots to choose from, Strandbad Plötzensee also hosts DJ sets from Tuesday to Sunday, tapping into different genres. On 05.07, Refuge Worldwide will be hosting an open-air event at Plötzensee, so be sure to get your swimming gear and dancing shoes on. It’s the perfect place to spend a day and chill out, join in the everyday semantics, or host private functions. Whether it’s a corporate event, birthday, wedding, or sports and games activities.
As someone who is a fan of day drinking, nothing beats sitting by the water’s edge, gin and tonic in hand, cooling off my toes. But what I really love is their initiatives and dedication to biodiversity conservation and inclusivity. The team works around the clock to maintain the water quality, encourage regrowth to fight erosion, and create a refuge for local flora and fauna. That’s where the community comes in: once a month, volunteers get together to ensure the entire space is free of rubbish, an essential undertaking that ensures any fly-aways are caught and disposed of (don’t litter in the first place, though). The team is committed to ensuring that anyone with or without disabilities can access the grounds and spend time together. The Plötzensee lido is a place that combines history, tradition, and leisure activities and continues to hold an important place in the lives of Berliners. See you at the lake!
