TANTALIZING ALL YOUR SENSES: A GUIDE TO THE WEEKEND

TANTALIZING ALL YOUR SENSES: A GUIDE TO THE WEEKEND

Thursday is newsletter day, marking the start of the weekend. As always, we’ve sifted through Instagram posts and press emails to collect recommendations for the next few days. Summer is all about FKK (Naturism), at least according to the “Freikörperkollagen” exhibition, which opens tonight (01.08.2024) at the Zwitschermaschine on Potsdamer Straße. Expect a clever and humorous showcase with works by Lula Valletta, Jan Brokof and the fantastic D.M. Nagu. The evening will feature a performance by Rinus van Alebeek with collage-cassette-noise and the exhibition runs until 10.08. On Friday (02.08.2024), the Adidas store Laundromat will host a wellness day in Prenzlauer Berg. Various treatments, including nails by “Everybody’s Darling” Isla Berlin, goodie bags, and relaxing surprises will be available. If you’re not dipping your freshly pedicured toes in the water on Saturday, take refuge in the air-conditioned comfort of the picture gallery and admire the 17th-century portraits by Frans Hals. For those who prefer to feed their ears rather than their eyes, the A L’arme Festival for contemporary jazz and experimental avant-garde music at Radialsystem offers a challenging yet rewarding experience. Or, for something a bit more relaxed, check out the Uferradio at Paul-Lincke-Ufer 40.

Jacob will be serving the hottest merguez sandwiches outside Marseille, accompanied by champagne and DJ sets from Disco Garden. I usually eat at my mom’s on Sundays, but if you don’t have family in town, there are two very tempting alternatives this Sunday (04.08.). Peruvian cuisine has gained attention in recent years, and in Berlin, Arianna Plevisani, known as Ari’s, stands out for her native flavors. She combines these with a classic diner aesthetic at Julius Ernst in Wedding. A more casual dinner can be found above the rooftops of Kreuzberg’s Moritzplatz at Suppa. The culinary collective invites you to “enticing, zesty, and brave” drinks by bar legends Max Moessmer and Arun Naagenthira Puvanendran, who are also behind Nox Cocktailbistro, at the “Chef’s Day Off” (04.08.) at Atelier BerlinMartin Müllerwill be cooking, with dishes such as lettuce-caviar-hamachi plum, plus music, of course, because in Berlin there’s always a party, even on Sundays. For those who can’t make it on Sunday, next Thursday (08.08.), Gather is bringing Caribbean cookbook author Riaz Philipps to the city together with Sips, more precisely to Terz am Herrfurthplatz. The menu costs €55 per person and tickets are available here.
