The Atelierhaus Mengerzeile is one of those legendary places that has always been part of the Berlin art scene. In 1993, the first artists moved into the old piano factory on the strip of the Wall between Alt-Treptow and Neukölln – here they painted, conceived and discussed, celebrated and started all over again. Even if the first occupants of that time have moved on today, the place has remained a constant over the years. The over 40 artists who work here today want to commemorate this: on the occasion of the 30th anniversary, they are reflecting on the past and preparing for the future. In the in-house art space m3, art that has shaped the building will be exhibited, while a documentary show will tell the story of Mengerzeile. In a city where studio space is in short supply, the space stands for affordable studios and a community that cares. After much wrangling, the lease was also secured for the next 20 years. As the community tours Open Studios on Saturday (23.09.2023) and invites you to the evening party, we’ll toast to that. Congratulations!
