FROM SEOUL, NAGOYA AND TAIPEI TO BERLIN: ASIAN ART BOOKS AT GALLERY AND BOOKSHOP EINBUCH HAUS — RECOMMENDED BY NAYEON KIM

Whenever I visit gallery and bookshop EinBuch Haus I always fall in love with the handcrafted shelves highlighting all the art books and the carefully curated exhibitions. This August, I am particularly looking forward to visiting because of their new exhibition Assemble and mini art book fair Asian Artbook House (both until 28.08.2021). While the usual motto of the space is to present one book at a time, this month director Frau Kim decided to welcome a number of books by artists from four creative platforms in Asia. In the exhibition these books appear like art objects in a group show, while on the other side of the space you find art books waiting to be opened and read by visitors. This is where you will find the “Asian Artbook House”, with 24 rare art books and prints from different locations in Asia. After browsing Frau Kim’s social media channel to view the selections that are making their debut in Berlin, I pre-ordered the books for delivery at home. That said, it is also nice to visit and see the sample books in person and listen to stories about them, which Kim happily provides. Both the gallery and bookshop are friendly and inspiring spaces for art book lovers, collectors, graphic designers and those searching for something different and unique. Whatever your reason for going, you can expect to spend some time at the Pankow venue this August…
