WASSERKUTSCHE — ESCAPE TO THE SPREE WITH A HOUSEBOAT

WASSERKUTSCHE — ESCAPE TO THE SPREE WITH A HOUSEBOAT

Looking to bring a little holiday fun into your everyday life but without the effort and all the flying? Then we have good news, because you can do it all here, right in the middle of Berlin – or rather behind the Oberbaumbrücke in Kreuzberg, where you can find the Wasserkutsche (“water carriage”) boat rental service, whose handmade houseboats reflect the name. You can rent them for a day, a whole weekend or even for several weeks and discover the many canals and waterways of the Spree. Or better still, simply stay in Berlin and explore your own city from the water, perhaps by cruising leisurely along the Landwehr Canal or picnicking on the Rummelsburger Bucht. Our verdict after a day on the water? You don’t need faraway countries or exotic beaches for a little vacation. Sometimes even the small moments are enough: Let yourself drift on the water, listen to the gentle splashing and enjoy the scenic view – just a little getaway is perfect.
