NATURE IN THE CITY: TAKE THE TRAM TO HABERMANNSEE LAKE

NATURE IN THE CITY: TAKE THE TRAM TO HABERMANNSEE LAKE

Every year, there’s a hype about Berlin’s next best-kept secret lake to cool down during hot summer days. I usually just browse through online maps and search for blue spots that are surrounding the city by the thousands. Last weekend, I wanted to go to a lake that’s not too far and reachable by public transportation; we ended up at Habermannsee in Hellersdorf, a perfect place for me. It’s equipped with plenty of sunbathing areas all around the shore, grassy areas for couples, and sandy beaches with a good stretch of shallow water for the little ones. And, to top it off, the water is warm! (I for one dislike cold water). I even saw some folks BBQing, although I’m not sure if it’s allowed. Needless to say, if you can’t find me this summer, you know where I am… (Text & Photos: Sven Hausherr)
