FEDERICO TESTA RECOMMENDS: THE GOLDEN CIRCUS

FEDERICO TESTA RECOMMENDS: THE GOLDEN CIRCUS

The Golden Circus is a unique pop-up store that has developed organically over the years, and which has just recently re-opened its doors in the vibrant neighborhood of Mitte. After six temporary installations last year, both in Berlin and Italy, the shop is now finally camped out more permanently on Rosenthalerstraße. From its beginnings in 2010, The Golden Circus has moved through periods of designing and producing fine leather bags, crafting jewelery, carrying out vintage research and exploring sales. While constantly broadening its horizons, The Golden Circus always remains faithful to its essence: curiosity and an endless search for the beautiful and unique. It’s this emphasis on the unique that really defines this 7th incarnation of The Golden Circus – this tiny magic shop is filled with objects handpicked from around the world. You can find contemporary design from Paris, Berlin, Milan and more alongside carefully curated vintage clothing, handmade accessories from Africa and artisanal French soaps, as well as an incredible range of tantalising kimonos. Lavish silks, infinite variations of colour, and ever-changing patterns cover these authentic, antique pieces, like the 100-year-old pink silk robe with hand-painted lilies. Sonia knows the stories behind all the items, and the object becomes even more fascinating as she shares its history with you. The selection is constantly changing, together with the artworks on the walls, and evdery visit brings new discoveries. (Text: Federico Testa)
