ILKA BAUERMANN RECOMMENDS: 19GRAMS CHAUSSEE

ILKA BAUERMANN RECOMMENDS: 19GRAMS CHAUSSEE

Upon opening the door to 19grams Chaussee, the beautiful design unmistakably stands out. The opulent, elongated wooden counter is reminiscent of a self-service coffee shop at first, but the café actually offers table service. In an area covering three whole stories, seating options are plentiful. Once seated comfortably at a table, the server will hand out the regularly changing brunch menu. There is something for everyone’s palate: vegan, gluten-free and even nut-free dishes are on the menu. The poached eggs have been a real hit from the very beginning. Those who have a sweet tooth can enjoy sensational cakes from the in-house bakery. A good cup of coffee is instrumental to a successful brunch – that is where 19grams excels, of course, being the youngest child of the Tres Cabezas family, which was founded more than 15 years ago by Robert Stock and Sascha Spittel. The coffee comes from their private roastery. In addition to their own label, they offer a rotating selection of filtered coffees and espressos every month – all of which are very fine specialty coffees indeed.
