Revolutionary documentary filmmaker Adam Curtis is participating in discussions this weekend at HAU, alongside the screening of two of his most controversial works. Pioneering a radically stylized documentary experience, UK-born Curtis interlaces dreamlike montage sequences with historical footage, all woven seamlessly into music which is at times both mesmerizing and startling. His most recent film “Bitter Lake” is a thought provoking exploration of the vastly complex history of Afghanistan and western intervention, whilst his four part film “The Century of the Self” tackles problems of governmental and corporate power. The films and debates form part of the Revolver Live! series at HAU, and following the screenings Curtis will be participating in discussions about his work with prominent cultural theorists. The Adam Curtis Weekend is a unique event which is sure to provide a fascinating insight into the philosophies and techniques of a world-renowned filmmaker. Definitely not one to miss this weekend.
