CEVICHERIA AND PISCO BAR – REAL PERUVIAN FOOD AT CHICHA

CEVICHERIA AND PISCO BAR – REAL PERUVIAN FOOD AT CHICHA

Once known for tapas, this former Spanish spot is now home to Chicha, a restaurant specializing in Peruvian cuisine. We were already fans of Chicha from their Markthalle Neun stand, and are happy that owner Robert Peveling and his team have found a steady home. Their new spot’s decor is colorful but pleasantly laid back, and is the perfect place to go with a group of friends (this way you get to try everything on the menu). Chef Ariel Peralta is a native Peruvian, and is serious about his cooking. This was good news for us, because their classic Ceviche was among the best in town. Tiradito de Conchas, a variation on scallops, was superb; Cuello de Cerdo, pork neck cooked on a lava-stone grill with lentils, was one of the highlights; and Causa de Pulpo, octopus dish with chilled potato cake, unforgettable. You don’t want to miss out on their Pisco Sour and Chilcano cocktails that match the food perfectly, but if you leave without having tried their amazing chocolate dessert “Cocao y Raspadilla”, you’re really doing yourself a huge injustice. We’ll surely be back with more friends, ready to experience more exotic and authentic flavors of Peru. An excellent addition to the Berlin food map! (Text: Nina Trippel / Photo: Sven Hausherr)
