AIDA BAGHERNEJAD RECOMMENDS: FRANKFURTER TOR

AIDA BAGHERNEJAD RECOMMENDS: FRANKFURTER TOR

It might sound cheesy or worn-out to you, but the steps at Frankfurter Tor are my favorite place in Berlin. Even drunk party people or Scandinavian tourists won’t change my mind. Sitting there, next to the former McDonald’s, especially in summer time, with a bunch of friends and beer, is quite magic. The “Späti” around the corner offers chilled drinks, food and cigarettes all night long and comfort too. Who needs to go clubbing, really? Sure, there are plenty of nicer and cleaner spots in this beautiful town: you can climb up the rooftops and watch the sun set, count the stars at Tempelhofer Freiheit or roll down the the hills in Volkspark. But the steps at Frankfurter Tor are the village square of Friedrichshain. This is where I’m sitting after work and there is always someone passing by, who has time to hang out. I guess that’s what you call “home”.
