GUTSHAUS FRIEDENFELDE: A HOLIDAY HOUSE ENSEMBLE FOR TIME WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND YOUR NEXT CELEBRATION

GUTSHAUS FRIEDENFELDE: A HOLIDAY HOUSE ENSEMBLE FOR TIME WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND YOUR NEXT CELEBRATION

The possibilities for stylish accommodation in Uckermark have increased: with Gutshaus Friedenfelde, a new holiday destination has just opened. Not far from Gerswalde, in the tiny village of Friedenfelde, Annedore Streyl, and Thomas Rieger have lovingly renovated an 18th-century manor house under monument protection. What has emerged is a refuge that combines authentic elements with an individual color scheme, vintage furniture, and modern art. Strolling through the stylish estate is a feast for the eyes – up to the roof. There are two spacious rooms with ensuite bathrooms and private kitchenettes on the top floor. On the middle floor are two apartments with multiple rooms, each with its own color nuance and character. From small and cozy with single beds to generously sized with direct access to the living bathrooms with freestanding bathtubs. On the ground floor, a perfectly equipped kitchen is next to the spacious dining room, designed for feasting. Before or after, the fireplace room and library invite you to relax. For those in the mood for movement, stepping through the French doors into the garden allows you to enjoy the expansive view.

A short walk around the area inspires you to explore the surroundings thoroughly, as Uckermark is known for its fields, clear lakes, and beautiful forests. The latter are perfect for short hikes – especially during the mushroom season. Returning from nature, the fireplace can be lit, or the fire pit in the garden. So, whether it’s winter or summer days, Gutshaus Friedenfelde is a place for relaxation and gathering throughout the year. The latter is also part of the special approach of the house: in the four apartments, a total of 22 people can stay. From friend gatherings to family celebrations: there is room for everyone. For those with more guests or others who want to come in a smaller group, the choice is the Bergbauernhaus, right next door. The modern wooden construction turns the rustic idea into a modern holiday accommodation with an open kitchen and a small oven. And a sauna next door – open to all guests. To complete the ensemble, the small stone Bergbauernhaus is also being renovated and is intended to make the accommodation for the little ones a unique experience in the future. This is certainly exciting for everyone who wants to celebrate an event at Gutshaus Friedenfelde – it’s perfect for that. The “festive hall” in the main house can be used for ceremonies, extra-long tables, or concerts. The latter are also the focus of the Kalit festival, which will be celebrated here next summer. So: space is there! All that’s missing is life, as you and your entourage. Last but not least, for transparency: we were allowed to design the design, content, and website for the house, and in the end, as part of a team trip, we also “inaugurated” the house together. So, we know what we’re talking about – but of course, we are also biased because we hope for ourselves and the creators that this beautiful project will be a success and provide many people with a wonderful break from everyday life. Any plans for 2024?

SILVESTER — MENUS, CONCERTS AND MORE TO BRING IN 2024

SILVESTER — MENUS, CONCERTS AND MORE TO BRING IN 2024

It’s barely Christmas and people are already asking what your plans are for New Years. Half your friends are out of the city, the other half are starting to text in the group chat to see what the plans are. Stress less: we’ve been keeping an eye on tips for you and here are some easy options to have a special evening… Want somewhere with dinner and the party all in one? Listening bar Anima is celebrating their first new years after opening this year, with a 4-course meal complemented with a wine pairing by Ritual Wine. You’ll need to reserve a spot, and after dessert they’re clearing the tables and opening to all to dance in 2024, (though you’ll be first to have a cocktail in your hand for the firework view of the spree…). Oh, Panama is also offering a dinner-party combo. This restaurant makes modern German cuisine and for New Year’s they have a 5-course special menu. There are two options: the regular menu which includes pike perch and venison with brioche dumpling, or the vegetarian which stars pumpkin with celeriac garum and celery cutlet with black cabbage. After, step next door to Tiger Bar for the afterparty.

Thinking more about food than the party? St. Bart are doing a 4-course menu for New years complete with bubbles, wine and cocktails. If you want to end the night Michelin, Bonvivant also has a 6-course vegan and vegetarian menu. If a non-stop buffet sounds more your style, Open House is the place to be with shared plates and bottles of wine all night long. Want to end your year with some classical music? The Berlin Philharmonie is doing a New Year’s Concert, and streaming it live in concerts across Germany. Okay, if you’re still here you’re more of a night owl… If you’re only thinking of the dancing part of the night, Torte Bar might be more your style – they’re throwing a party with Nadine Hemming and Imad. Or simply wander the streets and follow the sound of the fireworks.

A GIFT FOR YOU? DISCOVER UNIQUE THINGS BY BIPOC, QUEER AND FEMALE BERLIN-BASED MAKERS AT MIJAS

A GIFT FOR YOU? DISCOVER UNIQUE THINGS BY BIPOC, QUEER AND FEMALE BERLIN-BASED MAKERS AT MIJAS

Like the shop itself, Mija’s owners are a whole lot of different things at once. Zahra Banzi is a dancer, a dance and Pilates teacher, and owns a macrame brand, Migramah. Whereas Estrella Bonilla is a graphic designer, the owner of Rabbel Mag, and makes tie-dye clothing at her brand Soltees. After their creative pursuits, it was natural that these two best friends would someday create something together. Mijas, a term of endearment that means “my daughters” in Spanish, came naturally – it’s a language they both associate with their mothers who spoke it to them growing up. They also extend it to each other and their friends. Before the space was Mijas, it was Wax Wrap Berlin – a female and queer-owned business. Keeping in this legacy, Mijas stocks things by queer, BIPOC, and women makers. Everything in-store is made by more than 30 Berlin-based creatives. The stocklist is anything and everything you would probably love to have in your home or buy as a gift for someone else.

Döner kebab postcards by Pepita GlückGood Socks that give socks to the homeless, ceramic squiggled candle holders by Lisaland, bold bags by Rayas. Mugs, mirrors, jewelry, tarot cards, prints, and calendars exist. Dresses, scrunchies, bags, soap and candles. (read more)The relationship with the makers is also essential to Zahra and Estrella. They work with artists on commission and keep an ongoing relationship with them. They also host events in the space, from talks on women’s health to regular candle-making workshops. This space does it all, but if you’re still confused, Estrella sums it up quickly: “Our slogan is Mijas: a shop of things. The extension of that is a shop of things you don’t need but are beautiful to have.”

JOIN US IN WORKING UNDER THE SHED ROOF: DESKS AVAILABLE AT CEE CEE STUDIO FROM JANUARY

JOIN US IN WORKING UNDER THE SHED ROOF: DESKS AVAILABLE AT CEE CEE STUDIO FROM JANUARY

New year, new perspectives? About a year ago, we moved with the Cee Cee team to Charlottenstraße in Kreuzberg. By now, we have settled in nicely, and most importantly, we have found great co-workers! In the front part of the building, “Kind of Work” operates—a group of creative minds, including startup founders, designers, programmers, and more. We not only exchange ideas in our community kitchen but also collaborate now. Among them are Piet from Literal, Aske, who just launched his 3D jewelry project Arilie, Joasia, who creates fantastic illustrations, Friedrich, working on a Med-Tech startup, and several others. Additionally, Jeroen and his team from Koos, a branch of the Dutch service design agency, have their own unit. So, there are many disciplines, talents, and ample space for exchange. Thanks to four Persy Booths and three meeting rooms, there are also enough retreat options. Third Wave Coffee and Leogant-filtered water are included in the package. Starting in 2024, we are open to new faces: we are looking for 4-6 individuals or one or two small groups/collectives/companies. If this sounds exciting, feel free to contact us via email (hello@ceeceecreative.com). Visits between the years are possible! Cee Cee you later.

A BOOK TO CELEBRATE THE FESTIVE DAYS? OUR LAST-MINUTE READING TIPS FROM TWO BOOKSTORES WE TRUST

A BOOK TO CELEBRATE THE FESTIVE DAYS? OUR LAST-MINUTE READING TIPS FROM TWO BOOKSTORES WE TRUST

A book is sometimes the last present option before the holiday season starts but to me often the best. But which of the thousands of options should it be for loved ones and, of course, for your own reading time between the years? We asked the experts, and here are the tips from two of our favorite bookstores: Let’s start with books recommended by Coco, owner of Literaurensohn (see also our post about it here). Tip number one: “Das Wetter – Book for Text and Music” – made for those who want to combine input and sophistication; nearly 400 pages full of portraits, interviews, short stories, poems, essays, and more. A daring title for a gift, but an important message is “Hässlichkeit” (Translates to “Ugliness”) by Moshtari Hilal (Hanser). A very honest text that explains that ugliness is an idea meant to devalue and exclude people. For those who find this too close to reality, choose “Erkental” by publishers Buchfink: A fantastic story that offers absolute escapism. The story of Endri, the boy with magical powers, is for those who still remember how amazed they were by Harry Potter and want to experience that feeling again. And if one volume isn’t enough, opt for Marlen Haushofer’s “Die gesammelten Romane und Erzählungen“. Haushofer writes about the limitation of female spaces, the depths of repressed war experiences beneath a bourgeois surface, and cosmic natural disasters of unimaginable proportions. Back to the essentials with “Mensch sein” (Published by Rowohlt), where Carel von Schaik and Kai Michel help us understand being human. It covers what we call the normal state and what makes us sick. Their excursion ranges from sexism to religion, power, status, and the self-help industry. The team from the bookstore Geistesblüten also sent us their favorite tips.

We asked the owners of Geistesblüten, Marc and Christian, for books for various “Cs.” Here are their tips: For connoisseurs and art lovers, the duo recommends “Museum Bums – A Cheeky Look at Butts in Art“c(edited by Marc Small and Jack Shoulder) – pure joy for all observers, especially for readers of the intelligent and witty texts written by cultural scientists Mark Small and Jack Shoulder. While we’re on the subject of art and classics: Mr. Andy Warhol is as legendary for the two as the small books he illustrated with exclusive author contributions, which he gave to good friends in the 1950s. They are great testimonies of his flourishing imagination full of wit and self-irony (“Andy Warhol. Seven Illustrated Books 1952–1959,” published by Taschen). From the same time comes the novel “Gidget. Mein Sommer in Malibu” (Fischer Verlage) by Frederick Kohner, revolving around Kathy “Gidget” Kohner Zuckerman and her love for the surfboard. At nine, the daughter of the Jewish emigrant and screenwriter Frederick Kohner stood on the board for the first time. “The Little Californian Girl with Big Ideas,” as she was called, was to significantly contribute to turning her love for surfing into a mass movement, and who could understand her love for freedom better than her father, who wrote this enchanting novel for her in 1957. From screenwriter to set photographer: Julia Terjung and her “Still Life Photography” is a gift for cinephiles and photo fans alike. Last but not least: the Christmas miracle “Für jeden ein Licht” translated into German by Iris Berben, who thereby sets a sign against antisemitism.
