BERLIN FASHION WEEK FOR EVERYONE: SIX DAYS OF SHOWS, LABELS, PANELS AND WORKSHOPS

Whenever I hear the words “Fashion Week” I automatically think of exclusive events to which normal mortals have no access. But Berlin Fashion Week (6.–12.09.21), which this year is being held both online and physically, is quite different. Over six days, more than 40 brands and designers will present their collections for spring/summer 2022 at various locations throughout the city. You can expect more than just a fashion show, however: the program includes events, conferences and panel talks on topics like digitalisation, young talent, sustainability and the circular economy. Exchanging ideas is the name of the game, as the Fashion Open Studio proves. A cooperation with Fashion Revolution Germany, the series lets you take a look behind the scenes at the likes of fashion brand Fade Out Label. Fancy an upcycling session? On 08.09, Anekdot invites you to an interactive workshop in their studio, drinks included. If you’re more in the mood for a shopping spree, make a beeline for the Studio2Retail website, where you will find an overview of sustainable Berlin shops and studios including Malaikaraiss, Zora Auguste and William Fan who are also offering discounts and goodies.

Next up, Neo.Fashion gives you a glimpse into the future of fashion: graduates from 13 fashion universities from all over Germany will present their collections at Alte Münze. BFW always features a premiere, which this time comes in the form of A-Gain Guide, a digital platform from 202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit which lists local clothing repair and adjustment shops. Meanwhile, taking place all across town is the Reference Festival, an interdisciplinary platform for fashion, art, music, film and culture. At Wood Wood in Mitte you can look forward to the launch of a new collection (06.09.21) plus a performance and exhibition by Selassie. Stop off at the Reference Space in Schöneberg before checking out Disappearing Berlin, a performance and music program at the Schinkel Pavillon and Protopia at the Berliner Bierpinsel (mark 08. & 09.09.21 in your calendar). See you there!
