BERLIN QUESTIONS — FOUR DAYS OF EXPERT TALKS AND WORKSHOPS ON CITY LIFE OF THE FUTURE

BERLIN QUESTIONS — FOUR DAYS OF EXPERT TALKS AND WORKSHOPS ON CITY LIFE OF THE FUTURE

Want to discover how an abandoned New York railway became an oasis of urban greenery? Fancy getting a glimpse of future city life at a learning lab that floats on water? Then you’ll want to sign up for Berlin questions (11–14.08.2021), a four-day conference packed full of insights and inspiration on the sustainable metropolises of tomorrow. Under the motto “Metropolis: The New Now”, an international lineup of speakers explain how local solutions can solve global problems, such as architect Elizabeth Diller whose High Line project transformed a decaying rail bridge in New York into a flourishing park. But this program is not about passive listening: giving cities a future is a team effort, after all, and that’s what the Marathon day on Saturday 14.08. is all about. You are invited to the stage – either live at Floating Berlin or online – to give your own five-minute speech, performance or pitch on city life both today and tomorrow.

The unique rainwater basin of Floating Berlin will also host a deep dive program of discussions and workshops in partnership with architectural collective Raumlaborberlin (Saturday 14.08). Under the magnifying glass is the question of how technology, economics and society can help us create a truly sustainable future. You can take part in the whole program in person but also via The Virtual Now, an online platform which has been specially designed for the conference by Berlin’s Studio Waltz Binaire. The web environment lets you take part in the program and even meet your fellow attendees as avatars in a 3D visual space. The future, it seems, is already here…
