The city is once again abuzz with cineasts hoping to catch some films and maybe a glimpse of a famous face – we’ve heard Willem Dafoe might make an appearance – at the 70th edition of the Berlinale. And while it’s all about the films – and the competition for the Golden Bear – there’s a lot more to the 11-day gala, with mind-broadening masterclasses, engaging conversations on media and special events to check out. Mere steps away from the red carpet at Potsdamer Platz, the Audi Berlinale Lounge is a hub for all that. Everyone can join in the Berlin Open House program, from budding filmmakers to casual movie lovers. The days start with energizing morning yoga classes followed by panel discussions, workshops and talks with industry gurus on topics like sustainability in film and how to self-market your skills in the industry. After a hard day watching films, you can drop by for a cocktail as musicians, DJs and open mic sessions provide the entertainment. The open lounge is the perfect spot to sit back and let the festival wash over you. (Text: Andreea Dragos / Fotos: Benjamin Diedering für Audi, Simon Hegenberg)
