BERLIN’S ANSWER TO THE THROWAWAY SOCIETY: THE ZERO WASTE FUTURE FESTIVAL BEGINS

Are olive oil canisters the future, and can you save the world with beer? Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) has big plans! Their vision is to make Berlin the zero waste capital. At the Zero Waste Future Festival 2023 (ZWFF for short) at NochMall, the BSR’s second-hand department store in Reinickendorf, this vision will become reality (14.-17.11.2023). Find out how you can make a big difference with small steps – whether it’s at the breakfast table or in your closet. The key word here is “zero waste”, a term that describes using products and raw materials for as long as possible and keeping them in circulation before they are disposed of. The ZWFF offers a three-day program, with each day dedicated to a different theme: “Food & Drink”, “Recycle” or “Repair” are the three guiding themes. Free workshops and hands-on information stands will show you how you can make your everyday life more waste-free. Pedal on the Smoothie Bike and earn yourself a fruity refreshment or learn how to creatively upgrade and ferment stale bread. The exciting conclusion to the Zero Waste Future Festival will take place on Friday (17.11., when visions for a waste-free future will be presented and you’ll be invited to try out some of these new ideas. The numerous interactive activities will start at 15h, including a clothing swap party in cooperation with youngcaritas and Lena from Gurlscrime, theater and live music. And of course, BSR will also be present with information on waste disposal, separating recyclables and reusable solutions.
