BETTINA KRIEG RECOMMENDS: FEED CAFÉ IN SCHILLERKIEZ

BETTINA KRIEG RECOMMENDS: FEED CAFÉ IN SCHILLERKIEZ

A true hidden gem is found in the middle of Schillerkiez. The charming yet discreet Café Feed opened in October 2012. With its cosy, calm and tasteful interior, the atmosphere is very relaxed, friendly and welcoming to the guests. The heart and soul of the café is Frederica, the native Italian owner from Taranto. Her warm smile is equally enchanting as her homemade delicacies. Most of her recipes for sweet baked goods were passed down from her grandmother. Ingredients like ham, salami and cheese for the homemade focaccia are mainly imported straight from Italy. There is a large breakfast menu on the weekends. I recommend “Latte di Mandorla” on warm days — an organic drink produced by a social cooperative in Sicily made from almonds and raw sugar; it can be infused with cold water as a refreshing and sweet drink or alternatively with espresso imported from Bologna which is then prepared with love and great care. This is a delightful place that will surely leave utterly enchanted too! (Photos: Laurent)
