OPTIMISTIC PRALINES: CANDIDE SCHOKOLADEN

OPTIMISTIC PRALINES: CANDIDE SCHOKOLADEN

Stepping inside Arminius-Markthalle you might not expect to see a small, open-glass chocolate factory tucked in the far corner – yet there it is. At Candide, you can watch as pastry chef Daniel Budde works his confectionery magic with flavor and texture constantly on his mind. Having trained in Michelin starred restaurants, Daniel knows a thing or two about his art. With a two-week flavor turnaround, Candide takes a unique stand, so you’re always guaranteed something new and fresh (truffle hazelnut and blackcurrant cassis pralines being among the selection). From the creation of the pralines to boxing and packaging, Daniel is in control every step of the way, with each chocolate box showcasing the work of Berlin-based artists. Taking its name from Voltaire’s great satirical novella, Candide is the eternal optimist, giving Berliners a glimpse of love and dedication in chocolate form. Order online or visit Arminius-Markthalle and take home a chocolate box your friends and family will inevitably swoon over. (Text & Photos: Emilie Wade)
