SEEK MAGAZINE NO.4 RELEASE — COME AWAY ON HOLIDAY WITH US

SEEK MAGAZINE NO.4 RELEASE — COME AWAY ON HOLIDAY WITH US

This Friday (17.6.2016), Seek and Cee Cee Creative will be celebrating the launch of the fourth edition of Seek magazine, in collaboration with the upcoming Seek trade show. In a society where we dream constantly of disappearing from the grid yet remain hooked on social media updates, what does it mean to get away? The newest edition of Seek Magazine explores the concept of a permanent vacation through the photography of Olivo Barbieri and Tobias Faisst, the poetry of Jenny Zhang, the performative artwork of Christian Falsnaes the to-do lists of cultural movers and shakers worldwide and much more. We invite you to join us in Volume gallery for a tropically-themed night as we kick off the weekend in style, with drinks, copies of the magazine and a suitably beachy soundtrack. CONTRE/FAIT: EXPERIMENTAL VIDEO ART MEETS TEXTILE DESIGN

CONTRE/FAIT: EXPERIMENTAL VIDEO ART MEETS TEXTILE DESIGN

“Konterfei”, “Counterfeit” or “Contrefait”; whether in German, English, or French, it connotes something false. Tomorrow’s pop-up exhibition (Fr 17.6.2016) will explore the tension between truth, beauty and reality, building on the theme of counterfeits from which it takes its name. The international art collective Zeitguised will present an experimental film sequence of their textile design study, created in collaboration with textile designer Nadine Goepfert. Together, they will showcase the exciting synergy between imitation and material reality. The virtual “counterfeits” were first created digitally, and then brought to reality, and these simulations aim to evoke emotions that are normally restricted to a narrative context. The evening will be documented by Lukas Gansterer and will feature a soundtrack by Andrew Claristidge – an unmissable addition. Remixes to accompany films from artists such as Superimposed Void and Yukkon, among others, will be available as a one-of-a-kind limited edition EP, with only 99 available. CEE CEE LESSONS — TIME OUT

CEE CEE LESSONS — TIME OUT

For all three of our past lessons, we have invited you to be a part of them as opposed to just reading about them, and this time is no different. This Sunday (11.6.2016), we invite you to the fourth edition of our summer Cee Cee Lessons with Bulleit Whiskey. While before we have worked with tea, concrete and wood, this time we will work simply on pressing pause; on relaxing at Buchholz Berlin, enjoying refreshing drinks from Bulleit and snacks including the famous Buchholz flatbread. The idea is that all the previous participants of the lessons will come together to see each other again, sharing experiences, taking some much-needed time out, and making connections. Email win@ceecee.cc before Friday (10.6.2016) to win two pairs of tickets — we look forward to seeing you there!

FLASH ART EVENT: GHE20G0TH1K PARTY AT BALLHAUS BERLIN

FLASH ART EVENT: GHE20G0TH1K PARTY AT BALLHAUS BERLIN

To kickstart the weekend, the Flash Art party kicks off on Friday (3.6.2016) with a truly impressive line-up. Venus X, who established the iconic Ghe20g0th1k underground parties in NYC, will be performing alongside Total Freedom (aka Ashland Mines), in town to give Berlin a chance to experience the WILDNESS chronicled in Biennale participant Wu Tsang’s films; KABLAM (aka Kajsa Blom), known for her experimentation with the parameters of music, space and time, and Boychild, whose performances in venues such as MoMA PS1 and the Stedelijk, are as renowned as her collaborations with Korakrit Arunanondchai and Wu Tsang. I cannot wait for her special live performance at the Ballhaus! (Text: Lara Day)

DMY INTERNATIONAL DESIGN FESTIVAL: ODYSSEE 2016

DMY INTERNATIONAL DESIGN FESTIVAL: ODYSSEE 2016

The laptop on which you may be reading these very lines, the pen you set aside to do it – all things that surround us every day as a matter of course, all of them designed. The DMY International Design Festival Berlin reveals how these everyday objects are created and who’s behind them. Next week, for the 14th consecutive year, key players from product, industrial, fashion, graphic, and communication design will present their pioneering ideas. The exhibition will be accompanied by a supporting program, which, true to the “Odyssey” theme, will examine design as a global phenomenon. At the opening, Andreas Tölke and representatives from the creative industries will discuss approaches from the design sector that could provide the world’s uprooted people with opportunities and a home. A special perk for parents and their little ones? For the first time ever, the festival will feature supervisedworkshops for kids, allowing grown-ups to explore the festival undisturbed, discovering things like Plexiglas handbags with table lamp functionality, time and space saving furniture push-fit systems made of resin, and jewelry made from silkworm cocoons.
