COFFEE FROM HEAVEN, WINES FROM HELL, STORIES THAT HAPPEN — CAFÉ BONPLAND

COFFEE FROM HEAVEN, WINES FROM HELL, STORIES THAT HAPPEN — CAFÉ BONPLAND

Finding “your” café is like finding a diamond in the rough. Finding “your” café and “your” bar all wrapped in one is like finding twenty diamonds in the rough. I have lived in the Samariterkiez for many years now and have often rolled my eyes at yet another wine bar, restaurant, or coffee shop opening in Kreuzberg or Neukölln. Why never in my kiez? Finally, my prayers were answered by Café Bonpland, a little gem located on Proskauer Strasse. A cozy, charming venue to enjoy both AM and PM. Throughout the day, it delights with its specialty coffee from Field, homemade pastries, and snacks. During the weekend, you can bask in the sun enjoying a green shakshuka and other brunch specials. In the evening, a careful selection of tapas and natural wines is on offer. The menu changes seasonally, but highlights include Caesar salad, steak tartare & chips, and the Argentinian empanadas (hand-cut meat and vegan Pasqualina).

The faces behind the café are three Argentinian women, with a passion for joy, wine, creative processes, music, food, and art. Luciana Massarino, producer and cultural manager, founded Bonpland Coffee in 2020, but it was not until March 2024, that she joined the creative duo Exquisite Corpse and started a new chapter with a slightly different name, the same best coffee, and a new powerful wine bar and events era. If you fancy popping by this week, there is a jazz event on Friday (10.05.2024) starting in the evening, a few glasses of pet nat, and some soothing tunes. See you there.
