Although Berlin has the largest Turkish community outside of Turkey, it is not easy to find authentic Turkish delicacies here. Confiserie Orientale on Linienstrasse makes up for all the cultural misunderstandings. You will find the most delicious Turkish delights (lokum) here, as well as marzipan and strong mokka coffees to level out the sweet taste in your mouth. Founded in 1883, “Cemilzade” is still run by the same family in Istanbul, now in third and fourth generation; the shop on Linienstrasse is the only one outside of Turkey. I like to enjoy the sweets at the cafe but they also make a perfect gift to bring along when visiting someone.
