After her recent successful exhibition in New York, artist Despina Stokou returns to her home base in Berlin. The show “Allusions of Grandeur” at Galerie Krobath addresses the chaos of sudden success in the absurdity of the art world–– a world Stokou, as artist, painter, writer, and editor of BPIGS (Berlin Independents Guide), is all too familiar with. Underneath the layers of bright colors and playful moments, a biting wit and hard truth can be found in the unique curatorial moves, hand-cut text, and thematic images of Stokou’s collage-paintings.
