The search for real, delicious Indian cuisine has come to an end in Neukölln. We already know and love their Prenzlauer Berg spot, and now Chutnify has opened a second restaurant on Pflügerstrasse. A sharp and deeply authentic rendition of some of the most mouthwatering foods from South India, each dish delivers an intense burst of flavor that, thankfully, is a long way from the old, ailing creamy curry. Owner Aparna Aurora has an uncompromising attitude towards the make-up and selection of foods. The dosa is central to the menu, coming in a range of forms that includes a veggie dosa, filled with fresh, seasonal vegetables, and a tandoori chicken version, which I personally and emphatically recommend. The Pani Puri, a crispy morsel that you can fill with colorful vegetable mixes and a spiced sauce, is particularly delicious. A variety of thalis served with two chutneys of your choice (coconut and the tamarind are favorites), rice bowls, and street food appetisers, will be sure to keep India-deprived taste-seekers coming back. Dining under low light in the roaringly atmospheric interior, each mouthful should be savored alongside one of the best mango lassis in Berlin, or, if the mood takes you, a very tasty and inventive cocktail.
