SEE YOU THERE ON FRIDAY: THREE TOP GALLERY WEEKEND OPENINGS

SEE YOU THERE ON FRIDAY: THREE TOP GALLERY WEEKEND OPENINGS

We’re taking a slower approach to the opening circuit this Gallery Weekend, trading Friday night show hopping for a trio of exhibitions that pique our interest in particular. You’ll find us starting off in Kreuzberg at Soy Capitán, where Camilla Steinum’s endearingly-titled “Craving Caring Clumsy Connection” promises a continuation of the Norwegian artist’s explorations of materiality. Nip  around the corner for Claudia Comte’s second exhibition at König Gallery, “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth”. Viewers are invited to immerse themselves in an enveloping installation in which “ancient technologies” (wood, bronze and marble) meet avant-garde 4D video installations. Over in Friedrichshain at Peres Projects, Rebecca Ackroyd’s imposing sculptures call into question the divide between the inside and the outside; the public and the private. What’s your take? Nut it out over a cocktail at Peres Projects’ after party at the iconic Bar Babette to the upbeat tunes of Ribadisco/Mr Pink. Save us a seat, or a spot on the dance floor — by then we might have revved up the pace a little.
