THREE ART EVENTS IN BRANDENBURG (ALMOST) — UCKERMARK-FESTIVAL, LANDSCHAFFTKUNST BIENNALE AND NEW NATIONAL PARK GALLERY

We all know the feeling: the city is too crowded, it’s time to get out of the city, you crave new things and nature, but you want to drive to Brandenburg only partially aimlessly. Here’s the solution: this weekend and next weekend, there are three opportunities to escape the hustle and bustle of the city but still soak up a bit of cultural life. Art autumn, but make it countryside quasi. In the northeast of Berlin, the 22 residents of Pinnow will host the “UM Festival 2023 – Connect“. On 09.-10.09.2023, there will be all-day literature, music, and art, and more from Kyoco TaniyamaBaal&Mortimer and Antonia Baum, plus talks and night hikes. Dear Uckermark, you always do it right. On to the west: Last weekend, the fourth “LANDschafftKUNST” biennial opened in the West Hävelland village of Neuwerder. This year, hosted by the bustling curatorial collective of the Berlin Spoiler-Zone, you can marvel (until 17.09.2023) at works by 16 Berlin artists, some interactive and all humorous. If you haven’t seen Niklas Apfel’s giant horse yet or have always wanted to be photographed behind a real Lilly Urbat, you’d better get out of town fast.

Next weekend, you can take a detour to northern Berlin. Strictly speaking, Karow is still part of the city area. But don’t worry; it feels far from the inner-city Art Week fuss. And that was precisely the idea behind the “New National Park Gallery.” “Aus Wilder Wurzel” is the name of the one-day(!) group show that will take place on 16.09.2023 in a small, free-standing, open pavilion. Olga Hohmann will read, and Friederike Feldmann, Daniel Hahn, Zebu, and others will also show their work. And what could be a better balance between city and country, calm and excitement, art and chaos?
