If the lack of unique swimwear is keeping you from exploring Berlin and its surrounding lakes, check out ea seawear. The company started as a project by Anna and Eva in 2010 at the University of the Arts Weißensee, and has evolved into a business in 2014. Inspired by a crocheted 70’s bikini owned by Anna’s mom, the trained graphic artist joined forces with Eva who is a costume designer. The duo’s aim is to take the hippie-esque style a step further. Ea seawear’s crocheted triangle bikini is a hand-made product using polyester yarn that quickly dries after a dip. Thanks to its elastic straps, it also stays where it’s meant to be while the inside fabric layer keeps it comfortable on your skin. The crocheters are all based in Berlin, so in terms of production their items are truly sustainable! If you’re not into the triangle shape you might like their knitted version made at a small knittery in Thuringia.
