OPENING & EXHIBITION ON AND ABOUT MATTHIAS BAADER HOLST – A GDR DADAIST

Only yesterday I learned of Matthias BAADER Holst, but his exhibition title caught my attention right away: “all die toten albanier meines surfbretts” (something like “all those dead Albanians of my surfboard”). Holst added the BAADER to his name, which he always spelled in capital letters, after Andreas Baader and Dadaist Johannes Baader. Holst actually was a Dadaist himself. He can also be described as a poet, artist, film maker and publisher who lived and worked in the GDR and tragically died at the age of 28. The exhibition at Künstlerhaus Bethanien gives insight into his multi-facetted work – displaying photos, films, interviews, sound works and much more.

Matthias BAADER Holst “all die toten albanier meines surfbretts”, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Kohlfurter Str.41-43, 10999 Berlin-Kreuzberg; Stadtplan
Opening: Thu, 8.9, 19h; Opening hours: until 2.10. Tue-Sun 14-19h
