IT’S SUMMER, WHAT CAN YOU DO… OUR EVENT TIPS FOR THE DAYS AHEAD

IT’S SUMMER, WHAT CAN YOU DO… OUR EVENT TIPS FOR THE DAYS AHEAD

It’s too hot to make plans but you still want to be out and about enjoying the sunshine, savoring every moment. The fact is, the more you get outside, the longer summer feels. So, get outside! Start on Friday evening (16.08.2024) at Dittrich & Schlechtriem, where architect Gustav Düsing is showing a new work called Parasols as part of the “Ephemerals” exhibition. Afterward, move on to Gropius Bau for the last evening of the Sound Metaphors listening series — DJ sets by Castro and Nemo (the creators of Sound Metaphors Records) and food and drinks from the Beba team from the Airstream. As part of the “Tanz im August” festival, the piece “Skatepark” by Danish choreographer Mette Ingvartsen will be performed at Haus der Berliner Festspiele over the weekend (17.–18.08.). In the outdoor area of the Kindl Centre for Contemporary Art, the Open Air Film Screening “States of Fragility” will show seven artistic short films — admission is free and the Babette’s Garden team will provide chilled drinks. And because tickets sell out faster than expected, here’s a tip for the following weekend: at “Openless“, this year’s edition of Berlin Atonal, an illustrious group of visual and sound artists will be showing immersive works at Kraftwerk (23.-25.08.). Among them are Forensic Architecture, in collaboration with PAN / Bill Kouligas, and the legendary Chris Watson with artist Izabela Dłużyk. The after-parties of the Atonal Days will appropriately take place at Tresor/Globus and Ohm. So being outside or inside – both have their appeal these days…
