FUTURIUM: A NEWLY OPENED SPACE FOR VISIONS OF TOMORROW’S WORLD

FUTURIUM: A NEWLY OPENED SPACE FOR VISIONS OF TOMORROW’S WORLD

Ever dreamt what it would be like to play noughts and crosses with a robot? Well now you can with the opening on 05.09.2019 of the Futurium. This “Festival of the Future“, celebrates tommorrow’s world with workshops, live music, lectures and guided tours. You’ll get answers to some pretty big questions, and you can contribute your own future predictions too. Conceptually and architecturally, the building is divided into three zones: the lab in the basement for workshops, two studios by the restaurant on the ground floor that host events, and the first floor gallery that includes range of concepts. We were invited to stop by beforehand and were overwhelmed by how the Futurium critically and holistically explores competing visions of the future. The highlight: the Skywalk on the roof, allowing an incredible view of the city and the alternative energy system that powers the Futurium. The future is coming – and you can be there to see it happen, free of charge. (Text: Hanna Komornitzyk / Photos: Renou Schnepp & Jan Windszus)
