GARDEN, GROOVE & GRAND THESES — CC’S TIPS FOR EARLY APRIL

GARDEN, GROOVE & GRAND THESES — CC’S TIPS FOR EARLY APRIL

April is here — time for resurrection. Admire beloved clubs in a new glow, wander through visionary gardens, and listen to bold theses. Here are CC’s Calendar tips for the Easter weekend. The weekend kicks off today (02.04.2026) at Roter Salon at the Volksbühne with a daring thesis: “Everything is Content”. Igor Simić brings his film-lecture performance to the stage, working through 300 slides and ten tracks. It’s an intense journey through pop, politics, and art — a dissection of the relentless stream of images and meanings flowing around us. Also back in the flow: Renate! Freshly renovated, the club begins a new era. From today until Sunday (02.–05.04.), the Altbau venue celebrates its reopening. New floors, a new sound system, new bookings, yet the promise remains the same: nights under the Friedrichshain stars, drifting between dance floor, drag show, and (weather permitting) the garden. On Friday and Saturday (03.–04.04.), stop by Bamnat for freshly baked salt bread — plain, sweet, or savory-filled. Complemented by a selection of custom Easter cocktails. Best not to arrive too late! And here’s a prophet of spring: Tokyo Gohan Onigiri invites you from Friday to Sunday (03.–05.04.) to celebrate Hanami — the cherry blossom festival.

Onigiri is served with creamy egg yolk and soboro, tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet), and other creative onigiri compositions — for dining under (artificial) cherry blossoms indoors or in the park. On Saturday (04.04.), head to the basement of CCA BerlinYuri Umemoto presents the premiere of Concerts, blending piano, cello, and violin with other media. Born in Tokyo in 2002 and currently Artist in Residence at Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, Umemoto works with notation, recording, and editing, combining classical and contemporary approaches with experimental and pop-adjacent elements. Concerts repeatedly introduces small everyday moments: a neighbor, a washing machine, pigeons at their feeding spot, or boys playing video games. Food and drinks are available before and after the performance. For those craving fresh air: the Große Garten in Gerswalde celebrates the start of the season. A place in constant flux — somewhere between garden project, residency, and think tank. It’s about landscape, food culture, and ecological questions, but also encounter and exchange. To kick off the warm months, there’s coffee and cake, sourdough pizza from Parg, art by Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky, and a communal stroll across the grounds. Back in the city: Under A Groove brings house music all night long to Ysy. On Saturday (04.04.), the decks are fired up on a Danley Sound Labs system, with KallalooUrbnMowgli, and other artists spinning. Entry is free, and the concept is simple: dance floors are also social spaces. So, come as you are. Easter Sunday (05.04.) lures us in with a top-tier spread in Kreuzberg. Ora serves oysters in various styles, lamb flatbread, pistachio ice brioche, and drinks into the evening. At some point, a DJ will take over (though who exactly remains a mystery). What’s certain is spring is here, and it’s a perfect excuse to rethink your wardrobe or explore new finds in someone else’s. You can do just that on Sunday (05.04.) at the Now & Then secondhand market in the Ringbar, where you’ll also discover art, tattoos, vintage treasures, and maybe even the occasional Easter egg.
