GUILLAUME D’HOMMÉE RECOMMENDS: EGON BRANDSTETTER

GUILLAUME D’HOMMÉE RECOMMENDS: EGON BRANDSTETTER

There it is again, that goosebumps moment when passion, expertize and perfection meet. Tailor Egon Brandstetterstands at his old tailor’s table and shows me one exquisite item after another. He embodies the tailors craft with such devotion that I wonder what is going wrong in the current, fast-paced fashion world. No online shop on earth can offer this magic, and this quality. What Egon does is anything but fast fashion. His studio is a “wunderkammer” of tailoring, a tribute to craftsmanship and style. He takes me on a journey, explains to me what makes a good tailor-made suit, as every suit and every customer is different, and why 12,000 hand stitches and 80 hours of manual labor are necessary to finish the work. After years of learning and traveling in London, Rome, Florence, Paris and Vienna, Egon came here to do his thing: make the perfect suit. (Text: Guillaume d’Hommée / Photo: Henning Moser)
