The last month of winter is over and we’re looking forward to spring. The first weekend in March has much to offer. On 01.03.2025, the Club Baguette team will serve classic French jambon-fromage sandwiches in the Nomi wine bar. The cheese is from Fromagerie Poirel in Belfort and La Käserie contributes the Jambon Blanc. It comes with whipped butter, pickled mustard seeds and cornichons. You don’t need to book in advance, just drop by. In the evening, things continue with a delicious meal at Chez Ella at Atelier Sud (01.03.), where Jan Scheel cooks a hearty Cecci stew (Italian parmesan and chickpea stew) in an informal atmosphere. Relaxed get-togethers and a nice selection of wines are on the menu. If you haven’t had enough food and have always wanted to make kimchi, drop by Paolo Pinkel on Sunday (03.03.). Initiated by Eating Fantasy, there will be an inclusive workshop with artist Christine Sun Kim in German sign language. You will make vegan white and traditional kimchi together on-site. Back to February, because on Friday (28.02.), the exhibition “Woman’s Land” opens at Anahita Sadighi’s gallery as part of the European Month of Photography. The photographs by Forough Alaei and Kiana Hayeri tell of resistance, self-determination and the tensions between tradition and transformation.
In “Once We Were Trees, Now We Are Birds” at the ifa Gallery, the Martin Roth Initiative scholarship holders explore social violence, political oppression, and the challenges of migration. The exhibition has been on display since last week (20.02.) and brings together around 50 artistic positions from various disciplines. Von Racknitz + Baer Gallery presents “Playing and Reality“, a two-person exhibition of paintings by Arthur Laidlaw and Dan Rees, from 01.03.. The show borrows its title directly from child psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott’s book of the same name, and suggests that “play” is not simply an activity for children, but a lifelong process that enables growth, imagination, and emotional resilience. A little thoughtful, a little cozy and definitely with a full belly as we head into March.
